Converged Technology Consultant (UK)



Working in the Converged Technologies Team of this rapidly expanding global, independent IT Consultancy, you will ideally be currently working within a senior technical consultancy or pre-sales consultancy and possess significant experience in a relevant area. 

The Converged Technologies arena is one of constant development and as such, clients look to PTS to provide the relevant advice, guidance and services to assist them therefore, the role of Converged Technologies consultant is critical in ensuring projct success. 


Converged Technologies consultants are responsible for providing services in the convergence field to PTS clients throughout the strategic, procurement and implementation stages of projects. This encompassing, but not limited to:

  • Engaging and understanding the business needs of the client
  • Defining the relevant technologies to meet the business needs
  • Formulating the business needs and technology requirements into a written strategy 
  • Presenting and justifying the strategy to both technical and non-technical client teams and senior management
  • Running competitive procurement exercises
    • Developing specifications and writing ITTs and RFPs
    • Evaluating and analysing responses
    • Vendor management
  • Project managing the implementation of the chosen technologies and services

In addition to the delivery responsibilities, Converged Technologies consultants are expected to:

  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be able to command and empathise with client teams
  • As required, spend a signifnicant amount of time on client sites in geographically dispersed locations
  • Be at the forefront of technology through a continuous programme of self-development 

Characteristics & Skills

  • A self-motivated individual that can work both in isolation and in a team as necessary with effective time management
  • Asserts ownership of projects/tasks to ensure completion within the applied constraints
  • Understanding of technology in this area and its application to achieve business benefit
  • Able to communicate complex issues simply and within the business context, either orally or written 
  • Can demonstrate subject matter expertise in one or more technology domains both externally
  • Able to compile reports and project documentation to a high standard
  • Can interface as a peer with client staff at all levels for requirements gathering
  • Can present ideas, findings and reports to senior level client staff 
  • Not afraid to attempt new work outside of their normal "comfort-zone"
