Through the provision of IT Infrastructure, AV and Security solutions, PTS assisted Dunnhumby with the transformation of a former vehicle garage and showroom into a modern and secure working environment.
Users working within the Grade II listed building are able to work seamlessly across the building and in spaces designed to suit different working styles and promote collaboration.
PTS was responsible for the design of the Structured Cabling System (SCS), which will be able to support dunnhumby’s current and future IT requirements. The SCS consists of approximately 3,000 Category 6A data outlets, Category 6A voice backbones and a diversely routed OM3 fibre optic cable backbone.
To operate a ‘dark’ Technology Room environment, PTS patched each work area outlet into a network switch, enabling dunnhumby to perform moves additions and changes without the need to re-patch.
Local Area Network and Wireless Local Area Network:
The Cisco Local Area Network (LAN) and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) for the new headquarters features two core switches, 63 edge switches and 204 Wireless Access Points (WAPs). PTS designed the WLAN to ensure it provides coverage throughout the building, and that all 940 of dunnhumby’s employees relocating to the building can simultaneously connect to the Wi-Fi. The pervasive network allows staff to work from their desk, within meeting rooms or in breakout areas without losing connectivity.
Audiovisual & Multimedia
Leveraging expertise within the Built Environment and Workplace Innovation Practices, PTS advised the Client on the latest workplace trends and ways of working before tailoring an AV solution that fit the Client’s requirement and budget. Meeting rooms throughout the new environment were designed with Cisco Telepresence/ Web-ex in mind, providing dunnhumby with an easy to use communication system while maintaining a consistent user interface between desktop and meeting rooms.
As divisible, multi-functional spaces, Training Rooms were some of the most challenging spaces to fit out from an AV perspective, requiring effective coordination with various other project teams to ensure that the AV solutions and furniture were suitable for multiple layouts and functional scenarios.
By taking advantage of digital signage screens located throughout the building, (in spaces such as the open plan office, breakout spaces and kitchens), dunnhumby can efficiently communicate its corporate branding and internal messaging. These screens display the latest company news, events and messaging around best practice as well as international sporting events, helping to create a sense of community among employees.
To keep the premises secure, the Client opted for a one-card solution which grants access to the office lifts, printing and scanning services. PTS assisted with the design of the system that integrates with various technologies to offer a secure yet agile solution. To enhance the security of the new office further, dunnhumby requested its own control room that links to the panic alarms in the reception area, monitors security video cameras and connects with the building’s main security hub to ensure out-of-hours coverage for intrusion alarms.
