PTS Grads Blog 2018

PTS Consulting’s 2018 Grad programme recently got underway and the company welcomed 5 new graduates to the organisation. Based in our London office, the new consultants will spend the next eight weeks completing research and development initiatives, getting to grips with project management and exploring different areas of the business.

Two weeks into the programme, Mya Clucas has written a blog piece about her experience so far…

…My Third year at university was probably one of the toughest years of my life, with the stress of finals and the end of student life was looming. I was studying a Business Management degree at Lancaster University and began to realise that I wanted to go straight into working after I graduate. After talking to copious amounts of graduate employers online, and at job fairs, I started applying for graduate roles in October 2017 with a slight idea what I wanted to go into. I knew for certain that due to the diverse nature of my degree I didn’t want to go into a specific area of a business but rather a role that means I can expand my knowledge of business and after speaking to my career advisor at university she suggested consulting or project management.

I applied to over 30 roles in total, completing tests after tests, assessment centres after assessment centres and began to feel like I was just a number in a system; just another graduate interviewee in search for a ‘big break’ after university. My luck turned around in February when I found PTS Consulting. The job description and the graduate programme was perfectly suited to what I was searching for which included an 8-week induction period of key training development and then an 18-month rotation around different areas of the business.

After going through the process of interviews at PTS which I found to be extremely rewarding and interesting. I knew then that I just had to work here. I got the job not long after, and so far, I can definitely say it’s already living up to my expectations. Just two weeks into the programme, I’ve already learnt so much and met some amazing people. I've witnessed everything I learnt at university ‘come to life’ as such, and even ran 5k in an event called ‘City vs. Wharf’ - which was fun! The programme to date has consisted of in-depth presentations from senior management regarding our core services, conducting team projects and shadowing key members of staff and even visits to client sites. On top of this, we’ve also started to prepare for our PRINCE2 qualification and been given a group project by our CEO Kevin Perrett which is extremely exciting and definitely a challenge.

So far I can say that I’m so grateful to be here and so excited for what the next few weeks hold. I’m particularly looking forward to learning more about PTS, the industry and the role of a consultant and project manager.
