Business Systems Analyst, Boston (Contract)



PTS Consulting is looking to recruit a Business Systems Analyst to join our growing team in Boston. As a Business Systems Analyst within the organization, you will be supporting the project manager in cross-organizational lifecycle initiatives migrating multiple application stacks from legacy infrastructure to current technology and managing application code remediation activity.

This role will be key in the discovery phase of the project collecting application data and assisting the remediation artefact creation and will suite someone who has strong spoken and written communication skills, excellent understanding of application design and infrastructure architecture and an excellent understanding of business processes and application workflows. You will be working within an fast-paced technology environment, therefore similar experience is desirable as well as the ability to work individually and wi within team environments.

Please note, that this is for a contract role.

Main Responsibilities:

Your main duties will include the following:

  • Identifying and documenting the current ‘as is’ state

  • Engaging business representatives and app owners to explain the future ‘to be’ state

  • Collecting, analysing and interpreting discovery data

  • Documenting the future ‘to be’ state

  • Supporting the design of testing related to the future state

  • Acting as application owner single point of contact

  • Helping build deployment plan

  • Completing app profile, deployment and migration plans

  • Completing build specs

  • Ensuring a successful migration to app owner specs, submits old server decommission, submits CMDB updates

  • Accepting new system from build team for migration, creates migration / upgrade SOPs / runbooks

  • Managing migration hand-offs and cut-over

  • Working with infrastructure owners to orchestrate and manage migration cut-over, confirms migration cut-over acceptance

  • Collating discovery inventory and manage application Inventory

  • Collaborating with SSBT resources to categorize application criticality

  • Establishing migration approaches

  • Contributing to the development of overall initial migration plan

  • Supporting the communication plan in respect of business communications

Skills and Experience:

Ideally, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong spoken and written communications skills

  • Excellent understanding of application design and infrastructure architecture

  • Excellent understanding of business processes and application workflows

  • Broad understanding (not required to be in depth) of multiple technologies (including operating systems (Windows, RHEL, Solaris), storage technologies and networking)

  • Quick technical comprehension and motivation focused on client outcome

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years’ Experience as an application analyst

  • 5+ years’ Experience in fast-paced technology project roles

  • 2+ years’ Experience in the financial service sector

Preferred Experiences:

  • Experience in the financial services sector

  • Application re-platforming project experience

  • Global experience is a plus
