Lifecycle IT Infrastructure Technical Project Manager (Contract)



PTS Consulting is looking to recruit a Lifecycle IT Infrastructure Technical Project Manager to join our team in Boston. The Technical Project Manager will define and ensure successful execution of assigned Workstream(s) (infrastructure Tracks). The role must be able to define and manage the overall project plan, establish key customer relationships and manage external vendor relationships and/or assigned staff. They must have the ability to effectively communicate as well as manage and define risk strategies to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and within scope.

We’re looking for someone who should have experience and a high-level knowledge of Enterprise IT infrastructure and services such as compute (O/S, Applications, infrastructure, networking, storage (SAN, NAS, backup, archiving) as well as application lifecycle processes. The candidate for this position will have demonstrated experience in delivering large scale IT Infrastructure projects successfully. You’ll need collaboration skills to motivate team members, focus on customer needs and deliver project objectives. This position requires excellent IT technical knowledge of project management disciplines, practices and deliverables.

Please note, that this is a contract role.

Main Responsibilities:

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Provide the delivery of multiple application migration projects to PTS clients

  • Delivery and support within a corporate environment

  • Delivering on time and to budget

  • Develop and maintain vendor and supplier relationships

  • Demonstrate and continue to provide subject matter expertise

  • Work with peer consultants within PTS to deliver client focused assignments

  • Set specific project level objectives

  • Create and manage detailed project plans utilizing the Program Office standards (MS Project)

  • Oversee detailed application discovery for application remediation

  • Track progress against plan through structured meetings with project participants

  • Identify any additional work-streams that require separate plans or processes

  • Identify and escalate project interdependencies

  • Publish project artifacts to SharePoint

  • Identify and escalate any divergence from project objectives

  • Create and manage RAIDC logs

  • Report project milestone performance to Program Office

  • Facilitate regular project meetings at Application Project  level

  • Complete Project Completion Record and lessons learned for each project under management

Skills and Experience:

This role will suit someone with the following experience and skills:

  • Undergraduate Degree (Business Administration preferred) or related work experience

  • A minimum of 5-7  years of hands-on experience establishing and executing IT Infrastructure projects is required

  • Capability to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control and close on multiple cross-organizational IT projects concurrently

  • Experience of working in an IT Operations service delivery environment for a Corporate or Service Provider organization, and/or, the delivery of a similar role as a senior / principle technical project manager.

  • Sound management experience of managing teams in the delivery of  IT Services

  • Experience in the financial sector an advantage

  • Able to present effectively, convey the message and capture and maintain the audience’s attention

  • Working with global organizations an advantage

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure

  • Strong  knowledge of MS Office, Visio, and Project

  • Working knowledge of SharePoint

  • Applying standard project management methodologies and enforcing project standards; i.e. Prince2 / PMP

  • Preparing project engagement reviews and quality assurance checks

  • Managing project risks
