Senior Physical Infrastructure Consultant, Data Centres (London)



PTS Consulting is looking to recruit a Senior Physical Infrastructure Consultant to join our growing Data Centre team. The role involves working as part of a multi-skilled team, providing leadership and support to PTS Consultants for a hyper-scale Data Centre portfolio of projects.

The ideal candidate will provide professional services throughout all stages of a project, from the strategy and design phases to the implementation phase. You will be representing PTS in a professional manner at all times and will need to exercise good communication skills at all levels with the Client and when representing the Client.

You’ll be part of a team driving continuous innovation in the delivery of our project portfolio and the global standardisation of the services into other PTS offices located around the world.


As a Senior Physical Infrastructure Consultant, you will be required to:

  • Provide technical consultancy to PTS project teams for hyperscale Data Centre environments

  • Assist other Physical Infrastructure Consultants with the development of Client strategies to support the portfolio

  • Be responsible for the management and delivery of your own and the team’s deliverables

  • Develop documents and reports in a clear, concise manner according to the recognised PTS formats

  • Assist with the development of Technical Specifications for Physical Infrastructure products

  • Gain a detailed understanding of the various Physical Infrastructure products and services relevant to the hyperscale Data Centre sector

  • Provide project status updates as required

  • Adopt PTS Project Methodology as required in the development of Project Documentation

  • Ensure the reporting of revenue against the targets for the portfolio

  • Maintain awareness of Project Deliverables and ensure PTS’s adherence to the agreed Scope of Works; notifying Commercial and Senior Management when divergence occurs, if there’s a possibility of raising a change request and tracking change requests

  • Drive appropriate reporting cadences for the project team and the Client

  • Ensure that your own, and the team’s technical skills are kept up-to-date and continually improve with each project through on-the-job training and exposure to vendor developments and systems

  • Travel abroad to client sites and projects

Technical Skills:

The ideal candidate should possess the following technical skills:

  • An Understanding of CAD / Revit design capabilities. Able to utilise architectural and technical drawings and amend with Physical Infrastructure elements, create sketches and design drawings.

  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of the design of copper and fibre optic Structured Cabling Systems (SCS)

  • Possess a knowledge of SCS standards including BSEN 50173 & 50174; BSEN 6701; ISO 11801; TIA/EIA 568

  • Have recent large-scale data centre project experience and at least ten years’ industry experience

  • Be aware of power, cooling, containment and other building services systems that support IT and modern Data centre buildings

Required Qualifications:

The candidate must have a good industry knowledge and experience of SCS and Hyper / large-scale Data Centre project installations.  The candidate must have good written and oral skills.

Relevant Necessary Experience:

Ideal candidates should have significant experience in a technical SCS environment, including installation and QA in the Data Centre sector.

Systems Knowledge:

Good understanding of the following technologies

  • Fibre Optic Cabling Systems

  • Unshielded Twisted Pair Cabling Systems

  • Screened Twisted Pair Cabling Systems

In addition, knowledge of the following supplementary technologies is desirable:

  • Ethernet, IP, AV Systems, PBX/Voice Systems

  • Data Centre services

  • Construction projects

  • CAD/ Revit systems
