Program Analyst, Boston (Contract)

 
 

 
 

PTS is seeking a technical business analyst to participate in a complex technology assessment and improvement project for a premier financial services firm based in Boston. The qualified candidate must have a broad IT infrastructure background and be able to collect, classify, interpret and assemble relevant technical data and requirements from a variety of sources including corporate repositories (CMBD, asset databases, etc.) and stakeholder interviews. The ideal candidate should have good interpersonal skills, perseverance and must be an independent thinker.

Please note that this is a contract role.

About this Role and the Skills Required:

The technical analyst will work as part of a PTS team charged with:

  • developing a current state technology model

  • gathering requirements and developing a target state model

  • creating a gap analysis between the current and the target state

  • assemble and gain consensus on a remediation roadmap that will address the identified gaps

Main Responsibilities:

The position responsibilities include the following tasks to be performed as part of a team:

  • gathering information from existing sources to assemble application profiles containing:

    • application criticality

    • application topology and architecture

    • application hardware mapping

    • application data/database requirements

    • network dependencies

    • middleware services (message infrastructure) dependencies

    • authentication and entitlement

    • DR failover and recovery processes

    • Application access control

    • Upstream and downstream application/service e dependencies

    • Dataflows / processing

    • Batch processing

  • Assemble information into a predefined current state model and a desired future state model

  • Identify missing and inconsistent information

  • Close information gaps by conducting stakeholder interviews and documenting interview topics (minutes)

  • Analyse and process information gathered and participate in the development of a comprehensive gap report

  • Participate in the development and consensus gathering for a remediation roadmap closing the identified gaps

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • The candidate needs to have the following qualifications:

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

  • Ability to work independently based on provided guidance and agreed upon processes

  • Conduct interviews with technology stakeholders at different levels of seniority

  • Take minutes of interviews

  • Be sufficiently versed in the following technologies to be able to interpret and analyse information gathered:

    • Wintel systems (MS Windows)

    • Linux Systems (Redhat Linux)

    • Unix (Solaris)

    • Virtualization infrastructure (VMWare ESXi/Simplivity)

    • Network Infrastructure

    • Storage infrastructure (SAN/NAS, Veritas VVR, VCS, TSM Backup etc)

    • Middleware technologies (MQ, Secure FTP etc)

    • HCI/UCI architectures (Simplivity, Nutanix/vBlock/UCS)

    • Process documentation

    • BCP/DR documentation, processes and procedures

    • Disaster recovery frameworks
